How do I submit content to the ActorParlor blog?

Great question! The ActorParlor blog regularly features content created by the community, and all community members are encouraged to create posts through their profiles.

ActorParlor will review all submissions, and publish selected content. Post guidelines and requirements are currently under development; however, in the meantime, we encourage all community members to submit.

I am an advertiser, company, and/or professional looking to advertise my services (e.g., classes, photography sessions, etc.). How can I go about ad placement?

Given that ActorParlor is currently in early community development stages, we are not actively searching for ad placements at this time. In part, this is because we do not yet have consistent user metrics on which to base our advertising rates; however, our current priority is creating a clean user interface for our community.

With that said, we currently offer an Advertisements and Classifieds forum, in which advertisers, companies, teachers, photographers, and other professionals can advertise their services to our community. Currently, this is entirely free of charge, and accessible after registering an account.

Let’s say that you’re a veteran actor, comedian, or performer searching for work opportunities, or seeking new connections. Perhaps you’d like to notify your regional ActorParlor community of exciting work you’ve been doing, or finally put together that theatre company or film you’ve been dreaming about for years. Or, maybe you need someone to run lines or offer feedback on your stand-up routine. Are there benefits to being an ActorParlor early adopter and beta tester?

Over the coming weeks, numerous point and achievement systems will be implemented to reward early adopters. Furthermore, all beta users will be equipped with account badges and currently unspecified rewards.

When does ActorParlor officially go live?

ActorParlor will officially launch on December 16, 2017, or when we believe our platform is developed sufficiently for wider adoption. How is my privacy respected?

Naturally, as with any social network or website, any member-initiated public communication via forum, blog, site-wide chat, or other interface is inherently accessible and visible to the general public, so be certain that any of your public postings or messages are intended to be viewed by others. Similarly, ActorParlor profile information is visible to other community members; however, the privacy settings of certain profile information (e.g., website, union status, etc.) can be limited.

Despite the public nature of both the entertainment business and social networks more broadly, ActorParlor values our community's privacy and information quite deeply. It is for this reason that no private community information is ever sold or provided to third parties.

Can I change my account username?

Unfortunately, usernames cannot be changed at this time; however, display names (i.e., what appears in forums and blog posts) can be changed at your leisure.

ActorParlor recommends selecting a username that is near-identical to your stage name for branding purposes.

How do I delete my profile?

ActorParlor profiles can be deleted at any time via your profile editor. However, please note that once deleted, accounts are not recoverable.

How do I set up my ActorParlor profile?

When registering an ActorParlor account, you will be asked to fill out your basic profile details.

Please note that only your name is a required field, though we recommend completing all profile fields for the best possible user experience. For instance, if a user selects "SAG-AFTRA" as their union status, they will appear in the ActorParlor database as a SAG-AFTRA member. Without filling out such fields, their profile is less discoverable.

Are there any specific requirements for adding photos?

Given that ActorParlor is a community for actors, comedians, and performers alike, we ask that all profile pictures contain a headshot of the account holder. Your profile photo does not need to be your headshot per se, though it is certainly recommended.

For non-actors (e.g., company representatives, advertisers, etc.), selecting a company or business logo as your profile photo is also acceptable, provided that the account holder is a genuine company representative.

ActorParlor is a community of people, not profiles. Thus, we take seriously our commitment to ensuring that all community members are genuine people, and not just profiles.

Can everyone see my profile?

All ActorParlor profiles are visible to both members and non-members. However, members have the option to limit various profile details, and grant access only to community members or certain individuals.
